Hi Kyria,

Fellow ex-JW (24 years old, out since 18) and currently homeless and living in a Wal-Mart parking lot, in large part due to completely fruit loops JW mother (bipolar)! Nice to meet you :)

Stumbled across your book yesterday in Borders entirely by accident, read about two paragraphs, was incited to buy, and stayed up all night reading.

Wow. Just... yeah, wow.

Posted a sort-of review on my site tonight, but an awfully rambly one mixing in my own personal experiences, because I'm not a brilliantly concise and snappy writer like you, haha. I go off on random tangents.

Oh, well. You're awesome and just wanted to let you know. Always great to meet a fellow dysfunction-riddled apostate ;) Linked to your .com site, hope that's OK!

Thank you for telling your story.

Thank you Antonio!

Bri - Thank you so much. I'm going to read your review now. Are you really in a Wal-Mart parking lot? That's... not good. You sound like you have a sense of humor about it, though.

I know from experience that things will get better. The JWs don't make it easy for us to survive when we leave.

Congratulations to you for being strong enough to go through this.

And... I guess Wal-Mart really DOES have everything I need! (Was that too soon?)

- Kyria

Haha, it's not too soon. I've been there for over two months now (the economy and such blah-blah doesn't really help, although I do have a job). And yes, they do have just about everything you need ;)

No, not too soon. Even from the beginning I tried to see the funny/absurd side of it. But you seem to get the whole "attacking life with humor" thing. It's a useful weapon for former JWs to have.

Cheers!

I received my copy of your book yesterday and read it overnight.

I left at age 38 (now 40). I just finished my first semester of college, which has me on the JW radar as a bad person. When I have told some of my JW friends that I am majoring in journalism, they comment that I clearly want to be a part of the world if I want to write about it.

If the girls are cute, sure!

I enjoyed the book quite a bit.
