A light warning

The lighthouse nightly beams red on white ships.
This is so they won't circle around and knock over the lighthouse.

All guardian angels are deathly afraid of being alone.
And thus feel the need to stay by your side at all times.

Undetermined insects on 24th street spend their nights
lightly warning of something dumb and hungry.

This is so they can eat when it's light out.
And build up the strength to be better lookouts in the dark.

They say some men live for danger.
Others exist just to scream "look out".

Maybe one day someone will love me
enough to be my crossing guard

He will shine red light on me while I navigate blindly
and hope I don't double-back and hit him

Maybe one day someone will stick around and hold my hand
for no other reason
than it's in our nature to save the things we sleep with.

Im sorry to be leaving this as a comment on your blog but I couldn't find any other way to E-Mail you! I just finished your book last night and wanted to give you a personal thank you for it. It was so like my own life and my dissention from the JW's that I had to write you. Right down to the silly things she did, right down to the way she handeled her problams, right down to the very words that were said to her and by her sometimes. I have read so many books on the the JWs but have NEVER read a book that touched me in this way and never read a book that I so greatly identified with. Thank you so much for writting this! It has made me feel normal and made me feel like I was not so alone in the wierd things that I went through at the hands of the Society or myself. I will never be able to truley describe what this book has meant to me or tell you how much it has helped me!
